Lisa CarmelaWelcome to my website! I’m so happy you are here. My name is Lisa. I am a horse-loving crochet addict, wife in the prime of mid-life, mama to three spoiled dogs and an introvert at heart.

This is my story.

For as long as I can remember I have always been an animal lover. As a young child, I was naturally drawn to horses and dogs in particular. I can vividly remember imagining my mom’s brown ten speed bike was my horse, teaching myself to “post” the “trot”on it, even going so far as to tying it up to a post in our yard and bringing it water. It wouldn’t be until my early teens that my dreams of owning my own horse would come to fruition.

During my formative years, our family moved around a lot and those experiences helped to shape my psyche, although not in the most positive way. Every new school carried with it the same opportunities for my classmates to label me: outcast, ugly, loser, nerd. I believed them ~ although I didn’t so much mind the nerd connotation, I never did see the downside to being smart. I forged relationships with one or two close friends, worked hard at school and found solace at the barn with my horse whenever I could. It was the only place I felt I could truly be myself. No expectations, no judgments. It’s safe to say the barn is where I truly thrived through my teenage years. As time progressed, the realities of adulthood meant that the presence of horses in my life waxed an waned… but as my husband pointed out, I wasn’t the same person when I didn’t have a horse in my life. (He just gets me, what can I say?)

Over the course of the past thirty years, my equine experience has taken me from an initial summer horse camp, to learning to ride English and showing hunters, raising and training foals, to a most recent shift towards more of a relaxed trail riding focus and an even deeper desire to connect with my horses on an entirely different level. It has been an adventure full of heart busting moments as well as heart breaking ones… through it all there have been the horses who have taught and guided me along my path. They have so much to teach us if we will just take the time to stop and listen.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I hope you’ll join me on my journey, I’m so excited for what the future holds!
